Another hat inspired by the Ndebele Houses in South Africa, the name refers to a Fig Tree in the area, but mostly, I just love the name of the tree; Wonderboom.
The hat comes in 2 sizes, Infant/Small Child & Large Child/Adult (please read notes below.) Knit in worsted weight yarn, beginning with earflaps knit flat then stitches cast on around them and joined to knit in the round. Topped with a “layered pom pom” – 2 colors but colors grouped separately so there are blocks of color – it’s a quick knit. 2 single color braids are added to each earflap for a little whimsy to go with the name.
